Blue Monkey’s Gourmet Attractions
The 6th annual Plymouth Seafood Festival takes place this weekend, 16th and 17th September 2017 at the Barbican. The harbour transforms into a ‘culinary extravaganza with live cookery demonstrations, the popular fish auction, family entertainment and of course, plenty of delicious local produce to try from one of the many stalls’. Not to be missed eh? You can find out more here: http://www.barbicanwaterfront.com/events/events-calendar/
Sophy, who stayed at Blue Monkey last week, recommended The Canteen at Maker Heights in Millbrook. It gets five stars on Trip Advisor and is said to be ‘very chic and original’. Sophy said the food is Amazing – set up by an ex River Cafe chef with a great indoor play corner for kids and amazing views. Open for breakfast and lunch only.
Sophy also mentioned The Carew Arms in the village of Antony. The menu is overseen by Great British Menu winner and judge and Heston Blumenthal’s ex-sous chef from the Fat Duck , Emily Watkins. Head Chef Jack Clayton serves up wonderfully tasty dishes at really affordable prices.
‘We have a farm shop selling Cornish produce, including a wide selection of Cornish craft beers. There’s also a cafe selling proper coffee, Cornish pasties and some delicious treats that is open from 8.30am to 5pm. Upstairs is The Loft, a lovely private dining and event space that can seat 24 and take up to 40 people for a standing reception. We have a screen and projector for meetings and free to use superfast broadband throughout the building.’.

If it’s a great view you’re after, how about The Cliff Top Cafe? The view is ‘stunning’. the food is ‘great’ and the prices surprising – in a good way. You can walk off your black pudding on the cliff path down to the beach and your dog is welcome both inside and out.
